Round these parts you get used to it. What we imagine to be a mild twang, the merest hint of colloquial rust, becomes indecipherable once you pick up the phone and dial long distance. And so it was for John Monroe. A moment’s mishearing tickling an underused funny bone.

That name has sat on a shelf for even longer than these songs. Bands come and go but songs can live longer than a piece of string. And when you lose touch with a song, you hope you’ll meet again, even if it takes a year, or two, or three, or sixteen. And so it was for John Monroe. Songs that keep tickling, sixteen years on.
